What's for dinner? Wednesday

Tonight is another "What's for Dinner Wednesday?" recipe for the Gluten Free Homemaker. I came across this recipe on a local morning TV show a few years ago.

South of the Border Turkey Burgers with Chipotle Spread and Roasted Red Potatoes

Turkey Burgers:
2 pounds ground turkey
1/4 cup cilantro- finely chopped
2 cloves garlic -pressed
2 Tbs mild diced green chiles
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 tsp ground Cumin
1/2 tsp salt

Prepare all ingredients in the bowl, add turkey and mix well

Cube and season red potatoes with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Cover with foil and bake at 425 degrees F for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, remove foil, turn potatoes, and return to the oven for 10-15 minutes

Form turkey burgers and grill until cooked through

Chipotle Spread:
1 whole Chipotle pepper in Adobo sauce
2 Tbs mayonnaise
4 Tbs sour cream
blend in a food processor until thoroughly mixed
Spread on the bun in place of other condiments

My wife uses gluten free hamburger buns purchased online from Kinnikinnick.

  1. That looks really great - a hearty meal! I've never tried those buns from Kinnikinnick. I'll have to check them out. Thanks for the recipe!

  2. You know, I don't think I've EVER had a turkey burger, but that looks amazing. And the chipotle spread, yum!

  3. That looks great. Never thought of putting cheese and other things in a burger. I will have to try that and see what the rest of the gang thinks.
P.S.: I tried your chicken pot pie and it was delicious, everybody in my family loved it.

  4. I love the chile adition in there, it really steps up the turkey.

  5. I'll be trying that turkeky burger recipe when the weather gets warmer. It looks great and I love roasted red potatoes.

I also made the chicken pot pie this week and it was a hit!

  6. Brian, In case you didn't know, you don't have to write about what you're actually having for dinner on Wednesday. The blog carnival just takes place on Wed. I actually put my dinner post and Mr. Linky up Tues. night.

  7. Thank you all for the great comments. I'm so happy to hear that those of you who tried the pot pie enjoyed that as well.

  8. Thanks for visiting my blog. I like the name of yours! My dad just retired from 25yrs at the fire dept. I'll be back

  9. This looks great. I like your chipotle sauce. Wish I could have dairy. Might need to try this one dairy free.
