I'm a firefighter just outside Portland, Oregon. I met my future wife New Year's Eve 1999. On one of our very first dates, I took her to a nice Italian restaurant in Portland. As she picked at her pasta, I asked her if she was ok. She explained to me she had just been diagnosed with Celiac Sprue and couldn't eat wheat anymore.
