Luckily during the great computer crash of 2010, I still had not transferred pictures off my camera from my latest project. If you happened to see the December issue of Bon Appetit, there was an amazing cake on the front cover. I had to make it. Of course I modified it to be gluten free. I took it to my wife's work Christmas party where it was a big hit. As soon as I'm fully back up and running with a new computer, I will post the step by step pictures if you want to tackle this crazy cake. Bon Appetit's Version
My Version
I like yours better! I'm so impressed! Can't wait to see the step by step. Will you include your gf modifications too?
ReplyDeleteGlad you'll be back soon. You actually made that second version? Amazing! I don't think I would even attempt something that fancy looking.
ReplyDeleteHappy holidays Brian!
Holy moly, Brian! You never cease to amaze me with your baking beauties. I just got that magazine since I'm a new subscriber. I just looked at that cake and thought, yeah, right. And I come here today and here it is! Can't wait to hear/see more!
ReplyDeleteHope you had wonderful holidays (other than the computer crash, of course)! Wishing you a happy 2011!

Wow, very impressive! Gorgeous cake, every bit as beautiful as the cover cake. More so, even. And, it's gluten-free. Seriously, that's the most amazing cake ever. You could go into business. Or, do you bake cakes when not fighting fires? Lucky wife you have. She must be well worth it!

ReplyDeleteOMG! I am so impressed. I saw that cake in the magazine and was impressed - and then promptly decided it was too fussy. I'll have to find out how you did it.
